Payroll PMO with German | Remote
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Project Manager with fluent German and English to lead and coordinate global payroll transformation projects, with a particular focus on Germany.
In this role, you’ll manage projects from end to end, coordinating internal teams, external partners and payroll vendors across multiple geographies. You’ll work closely with Finance, Payroll Operations, Internal Controls, HR, technology teams and local stakeholders to deliver process improvements, system changes and standardised payroll solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate global payroll projects from start to finish.
- Coordinate internal resources, external partners and third-party vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, timelines and risk management matrices.
- Develop project timelines aligned with scope and objectives and coordinate deliverables across relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate resource availability and allocation throughout the project.
- Monitor, measure and report project performance.
- Track and communicate changes to scope, budget and timelines, as well as risks and issues, escalating them through established governance processes.
- Manage relationships with key project and programme stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and adoption.
- Work closely with Workstream Leads to ensure consistency in project delivery across multiple countries and geographies.
- Partner with local Finance teams to develop standardised workflows for banking, reporting and segregation of duties.
- Support the implementation of global payroll procedures and segregation of duties matrices in local countries.
- Work with Internal Controls to implement global payroll controls into local processes.
- Coordinate and oversee vendor risk management activities.
- Prepare training plans related to Payroll/WFM system security roles and audits.
- Coordinate the collection and review of local payroll and WFM requirements for system changes.
- Oversee Payroll and HCM system reconciliation activities and data uploads to ensure system alignment.
- Support the review and validation of Payroll Operations requirements against HCM system configuration and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assess requirements for HCM integrations and standardised reporting.
- Support other project-related activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience leading transformation projects, with strong experience related to Germany.
- Proven experience managing payroll projects across multiple countries/geographies.
- Experience driving payroll process improvements and transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes across multiple countries.
- Good understanding of time and attendance processes.
- Proven project management or business transformation experience.
- Experience working with multiple payroll vendor systems.
- Experience with HCM systems, preferably Workday.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically evaluate information and identify solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across functions and drive teams towards successful outcomes.
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Highly organised, goal-oriented, accountable and detail-focused.
- Flexibility to work with international teams across different time zones.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Fluent German and English.

- Experience with ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow.
- Experience with large-scale global payroll transformation or system implementation projects.
- Experience working with payroll, Finance and HR stakeholders across international organisations.
