About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Specialist with a strong background in cryptography and secure engineering to support initiatives focused on preparing technology environments for the transition to quantum-safe security.

In this role, you will provide expert guidance on cybersecurity and cryptography, helping technical teams make secure, risk-informed decisions. You will work across a range of initiatives, from assessing cryptographic risks and solution designs to supporting migration planning, remediation approaches, pilots and proof-of-concepts.

The role combines cybersecurity expertise, cryptography, security architecture and stakeholder engagement, with a strong focus on translating complex security topics into practical recommendations and engineering-ready guidance.

Key responsibilities

Cybersecurity & cryptography advisory

  • Provide expert guidance on quantum-safe security and cryptographic risks.

  • Advise on areas such as TLS, PKI and certificates, key management, transport security and cryptographic standards.

  • Translate security objectives into practical requirements, guidelines and engineering recommendations.

  • Assess technical options, trade-offs and risks and provide clear, pragmatic recommendations.

Security architecture & solution review

  • Review solution designs and technical approaches from a cybersecurity perspective.

  • Assess proposed solutions against security principles, standards and controls.

  • Support threat modelling and security-by-design activities.

  • Help define secure and scalable remediation and migration patterns.

Hands-on delivery support

  • Support technical workstreams related to cryptographic discovery, prioritisation and migration readiness.

  • Help teams interpret security and cryptographic inventory data and identify priorities.

  • Provide guidance on dependencies and prerequisites for quantum-safe migration, including transport security and certificate lifecycle improvements.

  • Support pilots and Proofs of Concept by defining security requirements, success criteria and safe deployment approaches.

Risk management & assurance

  • Identify and articulate security risks, control gaps and required remediation actions.

  • Provide input to risk assessments and risk acceptance decisions.

  • Help ensure that security documentation is clear, traceable and suitable for governance and assurance purposes.

  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to improving security standards, patterns and guidance.

Stakeholder collaboration

  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across different areas of the organisation.

  • Explain complex cybersecurity and cryptography topics in a clear and accessible way.

  • Provide recommendations that enable teams to move forward while maintaining strong security outcomes.

  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and the development of best practices around quantum-safe security.

What we are looking for

  • Strong professional experience in cybersecurity, with solid knowledge of cryptography and secure engineering.

  • Practical knowledge of technologies and concepts such as TLS, PKI/certificates, key management and cryptographic standards.

  • Experience working in environments with strong security governance, risk management and control requirements.

  • Ability to assess technical risks and influence security-related decisions.

  • Experience collaborating with engineers, architects and other technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • A pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach to cybersecurity.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and quantum-safe security concepts.

  • Understanding of cryptographic inventory, crypto-agility and migration strategies.

  • Experience with large-scale cybersecurity or technology transformation programmes.

  • Background in security architecture, technology risk or security assurance.

  • Experience working in highly regulated industries, particularly financial services.
