The role supports the controls indentification, review and policy interpretation tasks on the STDF IRR Programme Workstream. The roleholder will be expected to have substantial controls process and PRA policy backround and will work closely with the Programme and Project Managers and business teams to review and document the controls processes and policy rules and mappings for multiple regulatory submissions and exercises. The role will also involve working closely with compliance teams to establish current compliance standards and make proposals in order to bring reporting templates to full compliance. The scope of work covers the following categories: reconciliation controls, adjustment controls, analytical review controls, senior management review, calculations and governance, interpretation of rules to reports, EUCs, models and data. The role will involve exposure to senior business managers and a variety of other stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
Business Analysis
- Expect to become familiar with the Risk Management Framework (i.e. Risk Taxonomy and Control Library), to ensure process and control assessments are undertaken in line with respective policies and procedures.
- Probe processes and identify risks manifested from an end to end reporting view. Determine correct controls required across the various risk points.
- Determine control gaps / completeness of controls and processes across the stress testing population for each exercise working jointly with operating process analysts.
- Perform assessment of control designs and operational effectiveness. Where issues are identified (including reporting resubmission issues), perform root cause analysis, read across to ascertain if there is a wider impact across other processes; businesses and entities. Propose and agree remediation action with stakeholders, ascertain if any refinements may need to be considered over control standards or process designs.
- Work with report owners in the Business to enhnance the controls to a required standard and to make proposals in order to bring reporting templates to full compliance.
- Document control processes in relevant systems of record (training will be provided) and formalise related business process controls, Business Automated Control, End User Computing, Models and Calculations.
- Work closely with other workstreams and core process owners to track controls and compliance items through to resolution.
- Overlay risk and controls consideration over broader business Operating Model and related systems (i.e. workflow tooling).
- Deliver workshops to complete process and control walkthroughs. Produce and present material to support business stakeholders to grasp concepts of risk and control, and be able to demonstrate adherance to standards.
- Produce effective reporting to measure, monitor and report progress of work.
- Negotiate with stakeholders and agree pragmatic approaches to complete reviews through competing prioritises and business demands.
Training and Support
- Support the programme and project managers by identifying gaps in current processes and making relevant proposals
- Facilitate conversations with business stakeholders, external vendors and service providers
- Contribute to impact assessment activities and work effort assessments
- Training for new team members and set standards for project artefacts to be completed by team members.

Key Skills and Qualifications for this role
- Familiarity with the Stress Testing regulatory reporting processes, templates and requirements (PRA/BoE rules must-have, other regulators a bonus)
- Experience in working with reporting policy rules and interpretations and reporting compliance
- Strong process mapping and controls focused business analysis and documentation background and experience in similar roles (a minimum of 10-12 years’ prior experience)
- Proven record of documenting and verifying process understanding and applying thorough risk and controls assessments.
- Ability to engage with new stakeholders, obtain the necessary information, lead process discussions and close / document gaps
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Demonstrable business analysis and business process skills
- Ability to document and communicate concepts, flows, designs in a clear and concise fashion
The below skills will be a plus but are not mandatory
- Previous experience of designing control test scripts, executing controls testing, gathering adequate evidence to support conclusions and writing formal reports of the overall review and findings
- Working knowledge of controls and traceability tools
- Previous work on finance projects
- Ability to work with demanding business stakeholders
