M&A Associate – Renewable Energy

About Our Client

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, an international renewable energy company actively contributing to the energy transition across Central and Eastern Europe.

Our client develops, invests in and operates a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets, with a strong focus on delivering reliable, affordable and long-term green energy. With operations across multiple European markets and a growing portfolio of solar PV, wind and energy storage projects, the company continues to expand its presence in Poland and across the wider CEE region.

The organisation combines the capabilities and international reach of an established renewable energy platform with a dynamic and entrepreneurial working environment. Its multidisciplinary and international team brings together professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, with a culture built around transparency, ownership, collaboration and continuous learning.

ESG principles are embedded throughout the investment lifecycle – from project development and transaction assessment through construction and long-term operations.

As part of the continued expansion of its investment activities in Poland, our client is looking for an experienced professional to join its M&A team as an M&A Associate and support renewable energy transactions in the Polish market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for Polish renewable energy acquisitions, joint ventures and development partnerships, including project cash flows, valuation, financing, return analysis and scenario testing.
  • Take ownership of analytical models for contemplated transactions, ensuring that technical, commercial, financing and ESG due diligence findings are accurately reflected in valuations and investment returns.
  • Analyse the key value drivers and risks associated with Polish solar PV, wind and BESS opportunities, including grid connection, permitting, land rights, construction readiness and route-to-market considerations.
  • Support the analysis of BESS revenue and financing structures, including capacity market revenues, merchant exposure and optimisation assumptions.
  • Translate due diligence findings into valuation adjustments, sensitivity analyses and appropriate transaction protections.
  • Manage due diligence processes and data rooms, coordinate internal and external advisers, and ensure key issues are clearly tracked, assessed and escalated.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, valuation summaries and supporting analyses for senior decision-makers.
  • Conduct Polish market screening, comparable transaction analysis, and pipeline tracking and prioritisation.
  • Support the review of transaction documentation alongside senior M&A professionals and the company’s legal, finance and development teams.
  • Work closely with the Group M&A team, providing detailed local market insights and analytical support to enable informed investment decisions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of standardised financial models, templates and reporting tools.
  • Take increasing ownership of transaction workstreams as experience and responsibilities develop within the role.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–4 years of relevant professional experience, including at least two years directly focused on Polish renewable energy transactions or projects.
  • Relevant experience gained at a renewable energy developer, IPP, utility, infrastructure investor, investment bank, energy-focused advisory firm, transaction services team, project finance institution or similar organisation.
  • Strong hands-on financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Practical understanding of the Polish renewable energy project development process, including grid connection, permitting, environmental decisions, land rights, construction readiness and project timelines.
  • A proactive, hands-on and collaborative approach, with the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and the ambition to take on increasing responsibility for transactions.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
  • Professional proficiency in both English and Polish.
  • A genuine interest in renewable energy, infrastructure investments and the energy transition.

Strongly Preferred

  • Direct financial modelling or transaction experience involving Polish BESS, solar PV or wind projects.
  • Understanding of route-to-market structures, including PPAs, capacity market revenues, spread hedges, tolling agreements, merchant revenues and ancillary services.
  • Experience with project finance, debt sizing and bankability analysis for renewable energy assets.
  • Progress towards CFA, ACCA, ACA or another relevant professional qualification.

What Our Client Offers

  • Employment contract.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Hybrid working model with an office located in central Warsaw.
