Payroll Project Manager with German | Remote

 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering payroll transformation projects, process improvements, system implementations, and compliance initiatives across multiple countries. You’ll work closely with Finance, Payroll, HR, Internal Controls, technology teams, vendors, and other key stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate global payroll projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate internal teams, external partners, and payroll vendors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Create and maintain project plans, timelines, risk registers, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate resources and ensure the right people are involved at the right time.
  • Monitor project progress and report on performance, risks, issues, timelines, and budget.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and support successful project implementation.
  • Work with Workstream Leads to ensure consistent project delivery across different countries.
  • Partner with local Finance teams to develop standardized processes for banking, reporting, and segregation of duties.
  • Support the implementation of global payroll procedures and role-mapping frameworks in local countries.
  • Work with Internal Controls to implement global payroll controls into local processes.
  • Coordinate vendor risk management activities.
  • Prepare training plans related to Payroll and WFM system security roles and audits.
  • Gather and review local payroll and WFM requirements for system changes.
  • Coordinate payroll and HCM system reconciliations and data uploads.
  • Review Payroll Operations requirements against HCM system configuration and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the definition of HCM integration and standardized reporting requirements.
  • Perform other tasks related to the project as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in payroll processes, payroll transformation, or a related area.
  • Proven experience managing payroll projects across multiple countries/geographies.
  • Experience leading payroll process improvements and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes in multiple countries.
  • Good understanding of time and attendance processes.
  • Experience in project management or business transformation.
  • Experience working with multiple payroll vendor systems.
  • Experience with HCM systems, preferably Workday.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • Highly organized, goal-oriented, accountable, and detail-focused.
  • Ability to work effectively with international teams across different time zones.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent German and English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience with global payroll system implementations or large-scale payroll transformation projects.
