About the Opportunity
Our client, a global technology-driven organization, is looking for an experienced Principal Software Developer to join their team responsible for solutions supporting employee-related business functions.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and delivering strategic platforms used across areas such as HR, Payroll, Learning & Development, and Workforce Management. You will combine deep technical expertise with technical leadership, helping to build scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions that support hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide.
Working Model
This is a hybrid position requiring approximately 3 days per week onsite in Kraków, with the remaining time spent working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Define and drive architectural direction across multiple products and services.
- Make strategic technology decisions that ensure scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices across teams.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to understand priorities and translate them into technical solutions.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and long-term platform strategy.
Mentorship & Engineering Excellence
- Coach and mentor Software Engineers and Tech Leads across different teams.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Help teams navigate complex technical challenges and architectural decisions.
Platform Ownership
- Lead the evolution of business-critical systems and applications.
- Oversee integrations with internal platforms and external vendors.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, and operational stability.
DevOps & Operational Excellence
- Promote modern DevOps practices and automation.
- Support incident management, monitoring, and system resilience initiatives.
- Drive improvements related to software quality, deployment processes, and observability.
Requirements
Technical Background
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Previous experience in a Senior, Lead, Principal, or comparable engineering role.
- Strong expertise in at least one modern programming language, such as Java or TypeScript/React.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, event-driven solutions, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Proven track record of designing and building scalable web and mobile applications.
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to HR, workforce management, payroll, or employee-focused platforms.
- Experience working with solutions such as Oracle HCM, Zellis, or similar enterprise systems.
