About the role

For our client - a large international bank - we are looking for an experienced leader to build and develop the Product Testing & Assurance capability within the Controls Office operating in the 1st Line of Defence.

In this role you will be responsible for shaping and leading the control testing framework for product-related non-financial risks, ensuring that key controls across business areas are effectively designed and operating as intended.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Leading and developing the Product Testing & Assurance team responsible for control testing in the product risk area

  • Designing and implementing a robust testing and assurance framework for non-financial risks related to products and business processes

  • Overseeing control testing activities, including testing methodologies, test plans and quality of testing execution

  • Reviewing testing results and ensuring clear communication of key findings, themes and risk exposures to senior management

  • Driving continuous improvement of the control environment by identifying systemic control weaknesses and improvement opportunities

  • Building strong relationships with business leaders, control owners and risk functions across the organisation

  • Supporting governance processes, including reporting and escalation of key risk issues to senior management and risk committees

  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency of testing processes, including automation and standardisation

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in non-financial risk management, control testing, assurance, internal controls or audit, preferably within financial services

  • Proven experience in leading teams or building control / assurance capabilities

  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks and control testing methodologies

  • Experience working with product governance, business processes or operational risk environments in large organisations

  • Ability to translate complex risk and control topics into clear insights for senior stakeholders

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including collaboration with senior leadership

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience
