About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Engineer – AI / Application Security to join a high-impact cybersecurity engineering team focused on building modern security solutions at scale. This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, enabling secure-by-design practices across a global engineering environment.
You will lead the development of proof-of-concept and production-grade security capabilities, working across Python microservices, Kubernetes, GCP, and CI/CD environments. The role requires a strong engineering mindset, deep understanding of security tooling, and the ability to influence technical direction across distributed teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of security-focused proof-of-concept and proof-of-value solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based microservices and security tooling
- Drive engineering best practices across architecture, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Own code quality standards through code reviews, mentoring, and technical guidance
- Define and maintain testing strategies including unit, integration, and regression testing
- Lead technical discussions and create clear technical specifications and architectural documentation
- Troubleshoot complex engineering challenges and remove delivery blockers for the team
- Collaborate closely with engineering and cybersecurity stakeholders across multiple domains
- Support CI/CD automation, secrets management, and secure deployment practices
- Contribute directly to the codebase while mentoring other engineers within the team
Requirements
- Proven experience leading complex engineering initiatives in cybersecurity or security engineering environments
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python and microservice architectures
- Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks
- Solid knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or equivalent)
- Good understanding of secure software development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or Redis
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability
- Ability to lead technical design discussions and communicate engineering decisions effectively
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with security scanning tools and secrets detection platforms
- Knowledge of asynchronous processing frameworks such as Celery or Kafka
- Experience with monitoring and observability solutions (e.g. Splunk, OpenTelemetry)
- Frontend experience with React, Vue.js, or TypeScript
- Experience working in regulated environments such as banking or financial services
- Relevant cloud or engineering certifications
