Role summary
We are looking for our Client a Scrum Master / Agile Team Coach to serve three teams (Cloud & Infrastructure area): Cloud Guides, Infrastructure Architecture and Oracle Cloud. The role makes their work visible, plannable and predictable, and keeps the three teams aligned with the department's quarterly planning cycle.
Teams follow the department-wide ways of working set by Program Excellence, which combines Agile, Lean, ITIL. The Scrum Master works inside that frame:
- Quarterly planning (PI flow) — each team plans at epic level per quarter. The quarterly fix version is the source of truth for what is in the plan; added and removed epics are tracked.
- Definition of Ready — initiatives and epics must meet the common DoR before planning: description, acceptance criteria, priority, dependencies on other teams, EMC tagging, T-shirt estimate, fix version and PI status (Open → Ready → Committed / Stretch / Won't do).
- BAU in Jira — one BAU initiative per team per year, and at most two BAU epics per quarter (planned / unplanned). Work already tracked in ServiceNow is not duplicated.
- Progress follow-up — two quarter plan progress events per quarter, where each team presents its "Intermediate status" page and flags where management must step in.
- Metrics — the Team Performance Dashboard tracks predictability (WIP age, cycle time, throughput, epic burndown), customer satisfaction and team engagement.
- Community — Scrum Masters work with the Program Excellence Agile Coaches, who are the single point of contact for SMs on PI flow and Jira.
Key responsibilities
Team facilitation and coaching
- Facilitate each team's events: stand-ups, refinement, planning, reviews and retrospectives, sized to a small team (no ceremony for its own sake).
- Choose and tune the right flow per team: sprints for Infrastructure Architecture, Kanban or hybrid where work is request-driven (Cloud Guides, Oracle Cloud).
- Coach team members, product owners and leads on Agile and Lean practices; onboard new members.
- Turn retrospective actions into tracked improvements and follow them through.
Quarterly planning and delivery follow-up
- Prepare each team for the quarterly review & planning event: initiatives and epics meet the DoR, are ranked, estimated, tagged with impacted EMCs and carry the right fix version and PI status.
- Keep the BAU initiative and BAU epics set up per the Program Excellence conventions.
- Maintain each team's quarterly planning page and present the "Intermediate status" at the two progress events per quarter.
- Track added and removed epics during the quarter; flag scope change and risk early, with options.
- Stop epics rolling silently from quarter to quarter: split them, re-plan them or close them.
Dependencies and impediments
- Manage cross-team dependencies using the Dependency on Teams and Dependency description fields; chase items stuck in "Waiting feedback from other teams".
- Remove impediments the team cannot solve alone; escalate, and follow up until the label can be removed.
- Work with the Program Excellence Agile Coaches on systemic impediments.
Jira hygiene and transparency
- Own the configuration of the Jira boards: workflows, swimlanes, filters, dashboards.
- Keep the hierarchy clean (initiative → epic → story/task), statuses current and stale epics cleaned up.
- Report team metrics monthly: WIP age, cycle time, throughput, epic burnup, and team engagement.
Required skills and experience
- Min 4+ years as Scrum Master or Agile Team Coach, with at least 2 years supporting several small teams at once.
- Hands-on with both Scrum and Kanban; able to run service and request-driven teams, not only product teams.
- Experience with quarterly or PI-style planning (SAFe PI planning or similar) and epic-level portfolio follow-up.
- Strong Jira skills: board and workflow configuration, JQL, dashboards and delivery metrics (cycle time, throughput, WIP age).
- Comfortable in an infrastructure and cloud context (AWS, Oracle Cloud, networks, architecture); enough technical literacy to follow refinement and spot hidden dependencies.
- Experience working with distributed teams across countries and external suppliers.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have
- Lean.
- PSM II, SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or Kanban (KMP) certification.
- Knowledge of ITIL and ServiceNow, and where the line sits between Jira and ServiceNow work.
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing IT, including IT/OT topics.
