FinOps Optimisation Specialist

About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a global organisation that is investing heavily in cloud transformation, cloud governance, and cost optimisation initiatives across a large-scale multi-cloud landscape.
We are looking for a FinOps Optimisation Specialist who combines strong cloud engineering expertise with a passion for cost optimisation, automation, and governance. You will work closely with engineering teams, platform owners, and finance stakeholders to maximise cloud efficiency and drive measurable business value.
This is a long-term opportunity within a globally distributed environment, offering exposure to modern cloud platforms, large-scale workloads, and strategic FinOps initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify cloud cost drivers and implement optimisation initiatives across Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
- Analyse cloud usage patterns and deliver recommendations that improve efficiency and reduce spend.
- Optimise Kubernetes-based workloads through cluster sizing, autoscaling, node pool strategies, workload scheduling, and lifecycle management.
- Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules incorporating governance, tagging, and cost allocation standards.
- Implement cloud governance controls, policies, and compliance guardrails to improve operational efficiency and resource accountability.
- Automate operational and optimisation activities using scripting and CI/CD pipelines.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis by translating cloud consumption data into actionable insights.
- Collaborate with platform teams, delivery squads, and finance stakeholders to align technical decisions with business and cost objectives.
- Contribute to the design of scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- 3–5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Operations, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including networking, identity, governance, and core platform services.
- Good understanding of AWS and GCP pricing models and cost drivers.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code skills.
- Good scripting and automation capabilities (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
- Understanding of FinOps principles, including cost allocation, showback/chargeback models, forecasting, and cloud cost governance.
- Experience implementing cloud governance standards and policy-driven controls.
- Ability to analyse cloud consumption and cost data to generate business insights.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
- Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud certifications.
- Experience with cloud cost management platforms such as Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, or Flexera.
- Experience designing automated reporting and optimisation solutions.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale cloud environments.
- Financial services background.
